In Hungary Korean popular music is represented at a subcultural level. It is a small, yet lively subculture that has created not only stylish fan sites - from SHINee to Big Bang -, but Korean music parties as well. Shinshoku Fever, a party series specialised in K-pop and J-pop, holds a steady audience of 300 Hungarian teens and is about to celebrate its sixth edition on 12 March -- stay tuned for an exclusive coverage with pictures and videos! Another major party series, Nippon Groove focused solely on J-pop at the beginning. However, recognising the rising popularity of Korean pop music, it has recently added K-pop to its repertoire. It is pretty telling that the last flyer of Nippon Groove presented Big Bang's G-Dragon and TOP instead of a Japanese pop star.
 

So, what else can we show to the world? Well, I can recall a unique moment when K-pop managed to leake into the mainstream Hungarian media, although very few people could actually track it down. In 2009 during the second semifinal of a local talent show "Csillag születik" (A Star is Born), a dance group called Bad Boyz danced to the hit song of Rain (Rainism), Taeyang (Where U At) and Baek Ji-young (My Ear's Candy, featuring 2PM's Taecyeon). They even borrowed some elements from the original choreography:

Oh, and did I tell you the latest news? We have our very own Taeyang (Düki alias Tran Duc Anh aka. Tran D. A.) whose first music video "Tedd fel a kezed" (Put Your Hands Up in the Air) was aired in January 2011. Düki is Vietnamese and he has been living in Hungary since the age of 6. He is a skilled dancer and a former member of Bad Boyz as you can see in the previous video from 0:19. According to his official Youtube channel, K-pop is among Düki's interests and he enjoys listening to the music of Rain, 2PM, Big Bang and 2NE1. Check out his debut song below:
